The idea of the name came from the fact that children in countries like: Suda, Libya, Kurdistan, Western Sahara, Lebanon...
mistake landmines, Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) as toys, and the game seek to create a 3D virtual envirement where they can safely
recognise landmine and learn how to avoid them.Beign based on Quake 1 engine the game is designed to work on OLPC laptop and for
older computers usually available in developping countries.

Goals of the game:
- Know where they might encounter mines .
- Avoid entering hazardous terrain.
- Recognize clues that indicate the possible presence of mines.
- Know how to behave if they suspect they have entered a minefield.
- I Can distinguish between different types of mines likely to be found.
- I Never touch a mine or unexploded ordnance.

The game start in a small village and a virtual landmine museum where he can walk and explore several models of mines and unexlploded munitions and recognize several kind of danger signs.
the game is devided into a learning stage that happend inside the museum and practice stage that happend inside the egyptian maze.
the virtual museum is used as an alternative to plastic replicas to of real mines, when they are not available or expensive to get which give the child a "feel" of the 3D object size in space and thus will be easier to recognize in real life than 2D real photos alone.
The Egyptian maze is the main game level: it was hard to choose what kind of game world is more effective a more realist real world looking level, or a fantazy maze with .
- the maze give the player several choice of roads to take to arrive at a specefic destination.
- it has the advantages of offering several puzzle with buttons on walls that need to be pressed to open doors, which aim to give the child a basic sense of Causality and understanding relationship between causes and effect, which is first step in learning that a landmine explode be cause of steping into it and if he does not touch it it won't explode/ if he don't push the door button it won't open.
- the goal of recognizing mines and UXO is to avoid them and telling other child playing with them about their danger before it would be too late specially when the child has just discovered them in an unknown area.
but the game teach also the child to recognize the danger sign to prevent them from entering into an already known minefield area, but it is hard to make children understand the concept of danger at a young age.
- Evil toys use several danger sign used aroud the world so the child can remember not a specific sign that can be different
form country to another but a general color shape and drawing of signs used in an abstract manner.
- to discourage children to go further in the direction of danger sign, they have been placed in corridors with closed end, hear anoying sound, or find landmines that will explode if the player approaches..the goal is to make the child understand through experimentation that is the wrong direction and that there is nothing interesting to explore there. while the child is rewarded when he choose to walk in the safe path.
unlike the rest of the game, the mines are exposed on table and the player can get close to them without exploding, this give the child opportunity to recognize the shape of the weapon, and also to remember them when he play the game for the second time.
peer 2 peer learning and collaboration: for more effective learning children would play the game in group were the children who played the game first/more experienced would help new oneavoid traps and exploding objects

Playing a video game is not alone the solution but it will be more effective if used in context of traditional mine risk education so when the child hear the teacher saying "when you see this sign, it mean this is a minefield area don't go there" some children will accept it, other with more critical mind or curiosity will ask why and won't have satisfing answer until they experiment, with the video game they can make mistake and learn from it but in reality one mistake will be literally fatal.

سلسلة تعرف على البرمجيات الحرة: لماذا يجب استخدام البرمجيات الحرة في التعليم؟

في المقالات السابقة تحدثنا بشكل مطول عن ماهية البرمجيات الحرة وأهم مبادئها و أسسها وفي هذه المقالة سنتحدث لماذا يجب علينا أن نستخدم البرمجيات الحرة في المؤسسات التعليمية قدر المستطاع.

وحتى يكون حديثنا مرتبا فإننا سنتكلم عن النقاط التالية: التكلفة القليلة وخفض نسبة قرصنة البرمجيات، الأداء العالي والأمان، تشجيع الإبداع وبناء قدرات بشرية، مبادئ مفتوحة للجميع، .

كتعريف مبسط للبرمجيات الحرة ومفتوحة المصدر هي برمجيات حاسوبية متوفرة مع شفرتها المصدرية للجميع وتأتي عادة بلا تكلفة مادية وتعطي للمستخدمين حرية استخدامها وتوزيعها من دون قيود، بالإضافة إلى استطاعتهم إذا رغبوا دراسة الشفرة المصدرية وتطويرها بما يتناسب مع احتياجاتهم، كل هذا على نقيض البرمجيات المملوكة والتي تبيع حق الاستخدام فقط ولا توفر الشفرة المصدرية ويعتبر نسخها وتوزيعها من غير شراء تراخيص منها غير قانوني وعادة يطلق عليه قرصنة البرمجيات.

تعتبر تكلفة اقتناء التقنية في المؤسسة التعليمية من الأشياء الثقيلة على كل إدارة في معظم المدارس في العالم حتى في أغنى الدول، وما يزيد الأمر سوءا أن كلفة الترخيصات للبرمجيات المملوكة مثل مايكرسوفت ويندوز ومايكروسوفت أوفيس تعتبر مرتفعة وغالية جدا مقارنة مع دخل المتوسط للفرد، هذا عدا عن قيمة البرمجيات المملوكة الأخرى من مثل أدوبي فوتوشوب وتي تفوق في بعض الأحيان قيمة العتاد نفسه.

هنا تبرز قيمة البرمجيات الحرة حيث أنها تتوفر بلا تكلفة في العادة للاستخدام، وهذا ما يساعد المدرسة أو المؤسسة التعليمية على توفير السيولة المادية لتطوير البنية التحتية أو إنفاقها على دورات تطويرية للمعلمين والطلبة أو توفيرها للمشاريع أكثر أهمية، هذا من جهة إدارة المؤسسة التعليمية، أما جهة الطلاب فإن استخدام البرمجيات الحرة يساعد الطلبة على استخدام التقنية بميزانية تناسب ميزانية الأسرة، بخلاف البرمجيات المملوكة التي تلزم بشراء رخص غالية لكل طالب أو فرد في الأسرة.

من الواقع العملي فإن نسبة استخدام البرمجيات غير المرخصة أو ما يطلق عليه قرصنة البرمجيات مرتفعة جدا وهذا ينعكس سلبا على الحفاظ على حقوق الملكية الفكرية وتشجيع الابتكار والتطوير، واستخدام البرمجيات المقرصنة في المدارس وعدم تنبيه الطلاب إلى أهمية الحفاظ على حقوق الملكية الفكرية سينعكس سلبا على المدى الطويل على مستقبل الإبداع الفكري في البلد. إن استخدام البرمجيات الحرة وبما توفره من إمكانيات تناسب احتياجات الطالب والمدرس معا، تجعل استخدام البرمجيات المقرصنة فكرة سيئة ويجب الابتعاد عنها في كل الأحوال.

من النقاط الإيجابية في البرمجيات الحرة أنها تتميز بموثوقية واعتمادية كبيرة، بحيث أنها تعمل بالشكل الذي صممت له من دون مشاكل، ولا تواجه مشاكل في الثبات والاستقرار، فمن المعروف أن البرمجيات الحرة تتميز بأنها لا تحتاج إلى تهيئة دورية للنظام ولا تتأثر بالفيروسات المنتشرة بكثرة في عالم الإنترنت. إن نقطة الثبات والاستقرار تجعل كلفة إدارة وصيانة الحواسيب تنخفض بشكل ملحوظ وتخف الأعباء على العاملين في الدعم الفني، وتظهر ثمرة هذا بانخفاض نسبة الانقطاع وتوقف الخدمات الذي يحصل دائما مع البرمجيات المملوكة والمعروفة لدى الجميع.

إن استخدام البرمجيات الحرة في المؤسسات التعليمية يساعد على بناء قدرات بشرية على المدى الطويل، لأن البرمجيات الحرة متوفرة للجميع من دون قيود، وأيضا تتوفر شفرتها الداخلية للدراسة والتطوير مما يتيح الفرصة للطلاب إلى التعرف على تقنيات متطورة ومتجددة وتضعهم في الطريق الصحيح للحاق بالركب التقني المتسارع. قد يكلف استخدام البرمجيات الحرة مبدئيا بعض المال ولكن هذا المال يعتبر استثمارا للغد، استثمارا لتخريج جيلا جديدا لا يعتمد على الاستهلاك، بل عنده القدرة على الإبداع والتطوير والاعتماد على نفسه.

نأتي الآن إلى نقطة مهمة جدا في المحيط التعليمي وفلسفته، إن من أهم أهداف التعليم اليوم هو إعطاء المعرفة ومشاركتها بين الجميع، فالتعليم لا يهدف إلى حكر المعرفة على فئة معينة من الطلاب و المعلمين أو وضع قيود وعراقيل في طريقة اكتساب المعرفة، ومن جهة أخرى فإن من حق الشركات أن تضع قيودا على كيفية استخدام منتجاتها وهذا حتى تربح وتستمر في الإنتاج. من هذه النقطة ولدفع التعارض بين أهداف التعليم و أهداف الشركات، تأتي البرمجيات الحرة بطريقة تضمن للمؤسسات التعليمية بتحقيق أهدافها التعليمية وضمان أنها تستخدم آخر ما توصلت إليه التقنية.

تتمير البرمجيات الحرة بأنها ذات فلسفة منفتحه تناسب البيئات الأكاديمية والتعليمية، وتجعلها بيئة خصبة لتشجيع الإبداع والابتكار من دون التفكير كثيرا في نقطة الربح والخسارة والتي تضع البرمجيات المملوكة في المرتبة الثانية. وهنا يجب إلى أن ننتبه إلى نقطة مهمة وهي أن استخدام البرمجيات المملوكة في المؤسسات التعليمية يجعل هذه المؤسسات كوكالات دعاية للشركات البرمجيات وتجعل الطلبة مدمنين على منتج معين وتحرمهم من فرصة معرفة خيارات أخرى قد تلبي احتياجاتهم بشكل أفضل. إن التعليم يجب أن يتميز بأنه يعلم المبادئ العامة للتقنية فبدلا أن يعلم كيفية استخدام فوتوشوب يجب عليه أن يعلم كيفية التعامل مع الصور بشكل عام ولا يحصر الطالب في برنامج معين، حتى يستطيع الطالب بعد التخرج أن يختار البرنامج المناسب الذي يلبي احتياجاته ويناسب الميزانية التي يستطيع توفيرها لهذا البرنامج.

في نهاية هذه المقالة سأذكر بعض البرمجيات الحرة التي تناسب المؤسسات التعليمية والتي يجب أن يفكر فيها بشكل جدي في استخدامها أو تعريف الطلاب بها على الأقل، سنبدأ أولا بمشروع Linux Terminal Server Project الحر والرائد وهو مشروع يساعد المؤسسات التعليمية والتجارية أيضا على تقليل كلفة العتاد بحيث لا تحتاج إلى شراء حواسيب كاملة بل تحتاج إلى شاشة ولوحة مفاتيح و فأرة وبقية العمليات تأخذها من جهاز ذو إمكانيات عالية يدعي الخادم، تستطيع توفير مثلا خمسين طرفية خفيفة بواسطة خادمين ذو إمكانيات متوسطة.

وكنظام تشغيلي يعتبر نظام Ubuntu من أفضل الأنظمة الحرة التي تهتم بالمستخدم النهائي وسهولة الاستخدام وتوفير بيئة متكاملة للاستخدام والتطوير، أما برنامج OpenOffice فهو حزمة مكتبية توفر بديل حرا ومجانيا لحزمة مايكروسوفت أوفيس فهي تحوي على برنامج معالجة نصوص متقدم و برنامج للجداول الإلكترونية وبرنامج للعروض التقديمية مشابهة جدا لواجهة مايكروسوفت أوفيس.

إذا كانت المؤسسة التعليمية تحتاج إلى برنامج لإدارة المواد والدورات التعليمية فإن برنامج Moodle يعتبر من أفضل البرامج الحرة والمجانية في هذا المجال وهناك أكثر من خمسين ألف موقع يستخدمه ويخدم أكثر من 37 مليون مستخدم و 3.7 مليون دورة تعليمية.

لبقية البرامج الحرة والتي تهم المستخدمين بشكل عام يمكن تنزيل قرص OpenDisc والذي يوفر أشهر البرمجيات الحرة التي تعمل على نظام ويندوز مع مقدمة تعريفية عنها وهي تعتبر خطوة أولية لعميلة الانتقال إلى منصات حرة بالكامل.

Report: Free software Localisation Training in Mali

From 6 to 9 December 2010 I was in Mali to participate in the first FOSS Localisation Training organized by ANLoc. The training was held in Bamako, with participants from Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Chad, Cote d'Ivoire, Mali, Congo, Niger, Rwanda, and me from Morocco.

To understand what is localisation and why it is important here is a quote from the introduction of the book "Effecting change
through localisation: Localisation guide for Free and Open Source Software" that has been distributed to participants:

Computer software is often created to communicate with the user in a certain language, such as English. For the software to be usable by people who speak a different language, the software messages would have to be translated. This process is at the heart of software localisation.
Localisation really refers to all the changes made to a product to adapt it to a new language, country, culture or even legislation.

Personally, I think that Localisation or l10n of free and open source software in African languages like Bamabara, Songhai, Tamazight,... and others is not a luxury or just to please our self-esteem and ego, but a real necessity to reach people and teach them and give them a way to communicate in their mother tongue which is considered a human right.

The training was done by Mohomodou Houssouba the team leader of the Songhai localisation team and known for his contribution to Mozilla Firefox translation into Songhai.
We had interesting and rich discussion about the challenges faced by the localisation of our languages: the lack of dictionaries, unified terminology and sometimes lack of it, and some major languages don't even have a keyboard to enter thier special characters...and in the next days we started practical training with online traslation with pootle and offline translation using virtaal, and we've been introduced to the various features of the tools (translation memory, terminology creation, testing...).

I am grateful to ANLoc and Ubuntu Mali local team for organising such event and for IDRC for funding and support.

How to play Khan Academy videos on XO?

UPDATE: there is many Khan Academy videos already in ogg theora video format available on http://www.archive.org and can be played directly on browse or juckbox activities available on the xo. or you can use this online service to convert youtube video into ogg (or other format)

Basic arithmetic video lesson

The Khan Academy is a not-for-profit educational organization created and sustained by Salman Khan. With the stated mission "of providing a high quality education to anyone, anywhere", the Academy supplies a free online collection of more than 2,000 videos on mathematics, science, history, and economics.

Many of the videos are designed for children specially Arithmetic
videos, and can be watched directly on youtube or downloaded for offline viewing on the XO laptop.

you can download individual videos from youtube using any youtube video downloader service like
or download the whole category of videos for offline viewing.

Unfortunately, the videos are under flv format which is a proprietary video codec uded for live streaming and is not well supported under XO, but you can still play the video using JAMedia activity (made in Uruguay, en Español).

Another alternative is to convert the video into the opensource theora codec
ffmpeg2theora tool, more informations are available on the excellent flossmanual about the subject.The advantage is you can play the video anywhere (Browse activity, Jukebox activity, and totem video player) and all software on the XO that can play videos.

Origine et but de l'évènement
===============================================
Le but des Journées Open Source, organisées par l'ENSA d'Agadir, est de promouvoir les logiciels libres pour les marocains (particuliers); les PME/PMI ou bien encore les grandes sociétés marocaines.

Ces journées sont dans un but non lucratif, non politique et non commercial.

L'idée d'origine vient d'un jeune lauréat de cette école, EL QOTBI Zakaria, un passionné des logiciels libres, en particulier le système d'exploitation LINUX. Il organisa la première édition des Journées Portes Ouvertes : OUSSANE IDERFI en 2005 avec l'aide de l'école, ainsi que de l'Université IBN ZOHR, étant donné que l'événement est une nouveauté dans la région sud (Souss Massa Darâa – AGADIR, une région connue plus par l'agriculture et le tourisme), notamment dans le domaine informatique, ce fût un nouveau souffle à la région, la première édition a connu une réussite, malgré les nombreux obstacles qu'ont connus les organisateurs.

Récement au Maroc tous le monde parle de la regionalisation, mais ça reste encore un mystere pour la plupard des enfants (et des adultes) alors pourquoi pas une application qui aide à les connaitres?

Gcompris contiens déja une activité "geography" sous forme d'un puzzle où il faut glisser la bonne région sur la carte du pays.Il y a déja la carte du mexique, la France, Canada...et maintenant le Maroc aussi.

OLPC One Laptop Per Child حاسوب محمول لكل طفل

هي منظمة عالمية غير ربحية تعمل على لتطوير حاسوب محمول موجه للأطفال ليُستخدم كأداة تعليمية وخاصة أطفال الدول النامية والفقيرة، ولا يباع هذا الحاسوب في السوق بل الحكومات هي التي تتفاهم مع الجهة المنتجة للحصول على هذا الحاسوب لأطفالها.
لقد سبق ترجمة برامج الواجهة التعليمية "سكر" الى أكثر من 25 لغة من طرف متطوعين تستعمل حاليا في 40 دولة عبر العالم.

مؤخرا قد قامت المنظمة بالتبرع ب 5000 جهاز محمول الى مخيم صبرا وشتيلا للاجئين الفلسطينين لمساعدتهم على الدراسة.كما هناك مشروع آخر قيد الإنجاز لتبرع بحواسيب النائية في المغرب.
بعد النجاح الذي حققه الحاسوب في عدة بلدان نظرا لترجمة البرامج الى اللغات المحلية، نحن بحاجة الى المساهمة في تعريب البرامج التعليمية لتسهيل انتشاره في باقي الدول العربية وتعميم الفائدة.

Un programme très riche a été préparé pour célébrer le 10ème anniversaire de cet évènement majeur qui a largement participé à la promotion des logiciels libres au Maroc.

Fait marquant de cette édition, l’OLPC (ou le One Laptop Per Child), sera présenté pour la première fois au grand public au Maroc par M. Jean Thiéry, éminent expert en logiciels libres et M. Ahmed Mansour de l’équipe OLPC Maroc. la LP 2010 connaitra des présentations de M. Abderrahman Elkafil, DG de Nextma, à propos des solutions libres pour les entreprises, et de M. Samuel Balle, DG de Mandriva Maroc, sur l’open source et l’économie de l’entrepriseet sur leur solution pour l'education Educatice, M. Najib Tounsi, professeur à l’EMI, et directeur du bureau du W3C au Maroc fera une introduction sur l’open source. L’équipe de Ubuntu Maroc sera représentée par M. Islam Abou El Ata qui présentera la solution de cloud computing privé Ubuntu Entreprise Cloud. Une table ronde sur les logiciels libres au Maroc clôturera l’évènement.

GCompris est un logiciel libre éducatif multiactivités pour les enfants de 3-10 ans couvrant des domaines d'apprentissage variés :

découverte de l’ordinateur : clavier, souris, les mouvements de la souris, …
mathématiques : révision des tables, dénombrement, les tables à double entrée, symétrie, …
sciences : l’électricité, l’écluse, le cycle de l’eau, le sous-marin, …
géographie : placer les pays sur une carte
jeux : des casses têtes, les échecs, le memory, …
lecture : exercice d’entraînement à la lecture
autres : lecture de l’heure, peintures célèbres sous forme de puzzle, dessin vectoriel, création de dessin animé …

En tout, GCompris propose plus de 100 activités et il est traduit en plus de 40 langues, et récement j'ai travaillé sur l'ajout du support de la langue Amazighe à GCompris en vus de sa traduction future pour les enfants du Maroc.

Toute aide pour la traduction est la bienvenu.

Port de la distribution Gentoo sur XO 1.5

J'ai enfin reussi à personaliser et booter depuis une clef USB une version de la distribution Gentoo Linux sur le nouveau model XO 1.5 (nouvel géneration).

Conférence à Rabat à propos d'OLPC

Dans le cadre de ses activités scientifiques, le Centre des Etudes Informatiques et des Systèmes de Communication et d’Information organise une conférence animée par M. Jean THIERY, le 17 décembre 2009, sous le thème : « Le projet OLPC (one laptop per child) : un atout pour toutes les cultures ».

une présentation du projet OLPC (un ordinateur portable par enfant) qui a été presenté pour
la premiere fois au maroc!

J'ai présenté le laptop XO-1 avec ses caractéristiques technique (harware, utilise uniquement du logiciel libre) et ses principaux avantages:

le prix
solide
clavier resistant à l'eau et à la poussiere
économie de l'energie (4 W max) 10 fois moin qu'un portable normal
écran parfaitement lisible même sous le soleil
localisation completement traduit en Arab et prochainement l'amazigh aussi.
les laptops sont connecte entre eux même sans la présence de point d'accés wifi

Software:

environement graphique Sugar facile d'utilisation par les enfants.
entièrement fait en python, ce qui facilite la personalisation et la modification.
disponible sur les plus grande distribution linux: Fedora, Ubuntu, Debian

les questions des participants et mes réponces:

- qu'elle est la difference entre le laptop de l'organisation OLPC et les autres netbook au même prix?

la difference la plus importante est qu'il est spécialement concu pour les enfants des pays en voie de développement et avec ses caractéristique techniques peut mieux répondre à leur besoin surtout dans l'environement rural.

- mais Microsoft a une grande influence sur le ministère de l'education et il ont déja commencé à équiper les écoles avec de salle informatique.Comment allez-vous faire?

En effet, il y a au Maroc le programme GENIE (généralisation des Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication dans l’Enseignement) et faute de réel alternative à l'offre Microsoft, il serai difficile de changer les choses.
Mais à mon avis, le point fort du logiciel libre est de pouvoir être traduit et modifié légalement sans monopole d'une entreprise particulière pour la maintenance et la mise à jour.Par exemple si un logiciel ne supporte pas correctement la langue Amazigh ou Arabe, et même si nous avons des personnes competens pour le faire, on ne peux pas modifier le logiciel ni distribuer les modifications pour des raisons légal et de license. par contre pour le logiciel libre la modification et sa copie n'est non seulemnt possible mais aussi encouragé.

à la fin j'ai fait une démonstration du boot de la distribution Debian DebXO depuis une carte memoire SD de 1G sur le portable. pour montrer qu'il peut aussi être utilisé par des adultes et ainsi être bénefique à toute la famille.

Quake 2 game on the OLPC XO-1 laptop!

I'm doing some testing with Quake 2 and it run fine on the XO-1!
So who said that the laptop can't run 3D games :-)

There is many quake2 source ports, the one I am using is from icculus

Installation:
As with all other ID Software games (Doom, Quake1, Quake2, Quake3...) only
the source code is released under the GPL licence and not the game content.
So to play you need to download to have the full game or download a demo from:
ftp://ftp.fu-berlin.de/pc/msdos/games/idgames/idstuff/quake2/q2-314-demo-x86.exe
Create a new directory "quake2/" and extract the file. Even if the file extension is ".exe" it's just a normal zip file.
unzip q2-314-demo-x86.exe
get the latest source from svn :
svn co svn://svn.icculus.org/quake2/trunk/ sdlquake2
Open the Makefile and make sure that :
BUILD_SDLQUAKE2=YES # sdlquake2 executable (uses SDL for cdrom and sound)
BUILD_X11=YES # X11 software driver. Works somewhat ok.

and just run make
a new directory will be created named releasei386 and copy your extracted demo files into your releasei386 and run ./sdlquake2 from there.

The first OLPC laptop in Morocco, but certainly not the last...

Back in July I received my XO-1 laptop for my application for the contributors program.Basically it's away to encourage people to contribute innovative ideas to the project, and to experiment with the laptop hardware.

you write a proposal describing you project in detail.
every week, a public meeting is held on IRC that discuss the project from different perspective (is it educational?, how?, how many laptops are needed?... )
if the project is accepted, the laptop will be shipped within 2 weeks through DHL.
for my case it took over one month to arrive to Morocco, but the good thing is that I could track my package shipment and know exactly the date of it's arrival.
even that the laptop as been given to me for free, I had to pay the clearance it was about 300 DH (about $45), and it can be even more than the price of the laptop depending on countries.

Neddless to say that I couldn't sleep that night from joy, I started to play and explore it like a little child, and started to read everything I could about it specially the official wiki that is a very interesting ressource.

My project:
The idea of my project is to explore the possibility of running 3D games in an educational context.Of course the laptop don't even have 3D hardware and very limited in possibility, so using OpenGL based application is out of the question.
So I turned to using Quake 1 engine, one of the first 3D FPS games (10 years old game) and as I expected it run at a good speed on the laptop hardware.
but of course there is no way to play violent shooter game in a laptop made for children, my innovative idea was to transforme the game into a non violent one and use it in an educational context, in an new genre of games called serious games or edutainement: games that their aim is not only to entertain but also to have an educational value.

It is spoken by over 3 million people and is a major variety of Berber, belonging to the Afro-Asiatic (Hamito-Semitic) language family. Tamazight is the only language spoken by 40% of the Berber people living in Morocco.

How to install Amazigh fonts:
first launch the Terminal activityand type:

sudo yum install ttf-dejavu

Adding keyboard switching support:
launch the Terminal activityand type:

sudo nano /etc/sysconfig/keyboard

and edit the file like this:

KEYTABLE="us"
XKB_MODEL="olpc"
XKB_LAYOUT="us,ar,ma(tifinagh)"
XKB_VARIANT="olpc2,olpc"

now just restart the the graphical system (xorg) by pressing in the same time crtrl+alt+return.
and to switch then just press the division/multiplication sign key to change from English, Arabic
Amazigh keyboard.
